GX-Ware Security Scanning

Security Scanning allows items to be logged in and out using identity scanning, the results analysed and grouped into reports. This is illustrated in the following business example:

A company runs a time clock system to track when its employees arrive at work, break for lunch, and go home in the evening. Each employee is issued with an identity card which they must swipe as they go in and out through the door. The company manager is then able to verify that each worker has pulled the correct number of hours.

Whenever an item is added to the system it is given a unique number called the Reference Id

In this first picture a new item is being added to the system for an employee named "Darth Vader". The Reference Id field is being left blank to create a new Id automatically.

In this picture the item has been added and the Reference Id, (also called the Reference Number), has been automatically asigned the value '0000000044'. Such a large number is used as GX-Ware can handle millions of records.

GX-Ware can be used to create a receipt, letter or even a card that contains the Reference Id printed as a barcode *.

In the following picture a receipt has been printed, at the bottom a barcode representation of the Reference Id '0000000044' has been printed.

GX-Ware Scanning allows barcodes to be scanned which causes the item associated with the barcode to be displayed in GX-Ware *.

In the following picture an item for the employee Graeme Clarke has been scanned in and the details are now displayed.

When the item is scanned in the date and time is recorded. When it is scanned out later on the date and time are recorded again allowing a duration to be calculated.

In the last picture the 'Show Details' button can be pressed to display the timing information.

If you do not have a scanner then the Reference Id can be entered manually by typing it into the Manual Number Entry box at the bottom of the scanning window.

Reports can be generated to show which items have been scanned in and out and when this was done.

Reports can be saved as web pages for presentation.

Reports can also be saved in Microsoft Excel format allowing the results to be analysed and charts printed.

GX-Ware Security Scanning works with GX-Ware Reports to allow reports to be created for items that were scanned in on a given date.

This is particularly useful if an item represents an employee or a customer.

* To print barcodes you must have an appropriate printer attached to the system and scanning requires a barcode reader. Such equipment is not supplied with GX-Ware and must be purchased separately. Please see our Recommended Hardware page for products currently in use by our customers.
